Back to School ....................

My DD5 is back to school on Wednesday & we spent the last couple of weeks making a gift for her new teacher. It took alot of patience to create but think we did a great job.

We used 2 embroidery hoops 9" & 12", each crayon was then placed individually & hot glued in place. The apples were made using the Speaking of School Cricut cartridge, page 31 in the handbook using the shift key & shadow feature. The lettering was cut using the Opposites Attract cartridge using the opposite feature & cut @ 1 1/4"

I just hope it lasts the year & the kids don't help themselves to the crayons !!!!! lol..........

I'm Back !!!!

Wow has it really been 3 months since my last confession ( I mean posting), where does time go?

Never the less during my absence I have managed a little crafting, in between the summer holidays, the children going back to school, work, facebook (omg - how easy is that to get sucked into!!) & having breakfast with my friends.

One of my friends at work became a grandma & she asked me to make something for her daughter, so I made a couple of shadow boxes one with baby's details in and the other as a keepsake box. I think they turned out pretty well, the lettering was time consuming but worth it in the end.

More recently I made the children some halloween treat boxes, these were very quick and easy to make using my trusty cricut, tbbm & pddu carts.

I think I will make more of these using christmas designs and papers, to hang on the tree and give as teacher gifts, as I am really pleased with how they turned out.

It's taken me 6 years !!!!

Now that the teacher gifts are made, wrapped & ready to be delivered I have spent the last couple of days scrapbooking. We had these photo's taken when Alex was 10 days old, he went 6 in June !!!!, so for the past 6 years they have been in a box & I thought it was about time they had their moment.

I have looked through countless magazines, scoured the cricut message board for hours at a time looking for some inspiration. I knew that I only needed to use 1 photo per page because the photo's speak for themselves, but I wanted 2 completely different looks.

The "you colour our world" page I found a very similar one on the cricut messageboard, so I have scraplifted her idea (I think she is called Michelle, but I can't get back onto the board to check) and the 2nd page, I saw the folded window in a magazine (not sure which one, as I seem to have read hundreds!!) and then used prima flowers to accent it all.

I am really pleased with how both pages have turned out, just sorry it took me 6 years to get there !!!!!

Where does time go !!!

Can you believe it, it's been over a week since my last posting. We have had such a busy week though, what with work, 2 school sports days, boys brigade sports day, MRI scans (another story!), the cricut messageboard, as well as all the everyday things that us busy mum's have to do. It's not suprising that I haven't had chance to pop by for a chat.

Never mind I'm here now and in and amongst all the sport (OMG I ran the mums race !!!, that's a whole other story though, & one that I probably won't be sharing lol!!!) & everything else I have managed a couple of craft projects.

I have made a little tag album using my sizzix, which I will probably give my neice for her 16th birthday (ohh to be 16 again!!!) and the other project is called a Finnish Star, one of the ladies at my local crop sent me the link ( www.craftideas.info/html/finnish_star.html ), and with one sheet of double sided 12 x 12 paper you can create this master piece. It took a little time but I am really pleased with the end result. I think these would make brilliant christmas (ohhh that word again!!) decorations as well, using the right coloured papers, but I suppose that will be here before we know it. Like I said in my title, Where does time go !!!

I'm back !!! 1st Challenge......

Can you believe it, my 10 year old has just read my blog and come up with the 1st challenge.

He wants us to find the treasure aahhhhh!!!!!(read blog from June 25th to see why I'm screaming), told you I was opening a can of worms (lol).

If you never hear from me again, you will know were tried and failed again and never returned from the ends of the earth !!!! Any good luck messages would be grately appreciated xx

Half way there !!!!

Hope you have all had a great weekend, well I'm half way there with all my teacher creations.

The gifts are coming along nicely so I thought I would make a start on the cards, both of these were made using the WIMG cart for the background and the flowers were made using a K & Co flower kit, then decorated with stickles, a button or brad. I love how dimensional they are, and think they turned out really well.

Another thing that I realised today is that we are also half way through the year. It's 1st July tomorrow and guess what before we know it, it's going to be christmas. So I am going to set us (the family !!!, wow we sound like the mafia or something, lol!!!) some challenges that we must try to acheive before the end of the year, am I opening a can of worms or what!! I will keep you posted on what we decide.

Teacher Gift - Part 2 !!!

I am feeling quite pleased with myself today, I love this idea of sharing my creations and it is really spurring me on to create more things so that I can keep updating my blog.

I have had this idea in my head for ages, and at last with help from my 6 year old have managed to create it for his teacher.

I have used a couple of cricut carts, Speaking of School for the letters and numbers, and Walk in my Garden for the cute caterpillar. The verse I have adapted from one I found online last year to make it more personal, and all in all I am very pleased with the results.
